Week in Review

This week we have continued lessons on our artist: Diego Rivera, South America, and Insects & Arachnids.  Ms. Jennifer read a book about the life of Diego Rivera.  The children found the place of his birth interesting, Guanajuato, Mexico. Guanajuato means "place of flogs" in the local indigenous language.  Ms. Citlalli has visited Guanajuato, and yes there are many frogs throughout the city!  We also read the books Bee Dance and If I ran the Rainforest.  We discussed the importances of trees and taking care of our environment.  The children have enjoyed the new jobs, tweezing the flies in practical life and using insects as counters are some of the favorites.  Also, fun new jobs are counting the syllables in the names of South American countries and finding the beginning sound for each country.

In enrichment, the children will begin to put together their year long project.  They have been push-pinning the continents since August and now they will create their world map.

We have completed our scrap book class project for the PTO Spring Auction, our next project will be transforming a planter with our Science topic for this month.  It will be a fun event, hope all our parents can attend the auction and bid for our classroom projects!
